A Google Play gift code becomes account balance after redemption
Google explains that when a Google Play gift card is redeemed, its value is added to the Google Play balance of the selected account. That account balance is different from an unused physical card or digital gift code.
If you plan to sell an unused Google Play gift card, do not redeem it just to see the balance. Google Play balance is generally not refundable or transferable, and it remains connected to the account and country where it was redeemed.
Confirm country and currency first
Google states that Play gift cards are subject to the terms of the country where they were issued and can generally be redeemed only in that country and currency. The Google Play account country must also match.
Before selling, confirm:
- issuing country;
- printed currency and denomination;
- physical card or digital code;
- original retailer or delivery source;
- whether the code remains unredeemed;
- whether the receipt or original message is available.
Use Google's official gift card country guidance and Play balance instructions for the relevant account. Do not enter the code on an unofficial checking page.
Why the account balance does not verify the card
Google's balance screen shows value already added to an account. It does not prove that a separate code remains unused. Redeeming the code to perform that check changes the product and can make it unsuitable for resale.
If a code produces an error, do not keep trying it across different accounts or regions. Preserve the receipt and use Google's official support information.
Check a matched Kardora estimate
Open Kardora's quote flow, select Google Play and match the issuing country, currency, format and value. Read the Google Play gift card rate guide to understand why an old rate screenshot may describe another card.
If the exact country or format is not shown, do not select a similar option. Use the supported combinations currently available in Kardora.
Before submission
- Confirm that the code is unused.
- Match the country and currency.
- Keep the receipt or original digital delivery.
- Avoid redeeming the card to check it.
- Protect the complete code from public sharing.
- Submit the requested evidence through Kardora.

Frequently asked questions
Can I check an unused Google Play code without redeeming it?
Google's balance screen shows funds already added to an account. Do not redeem an unused code only to test it when you plan to sell the card. Use the printed value and original purchase evidence.
Can Google Play balance be transferred to another account?
Google says Play balance is generally not transferable. An account balance is not the same as an unused gift card code and should not be submitted as one.
Why does my Google Play country matter?
Google Play gift cards are country- and currency-specific. A mismatch between the card and account region can prevent redemption and also means a quote for another region does not describe your card.
