Why checking the balance first matters

Checking a gift card balance before selling in Nigeria helps you enter the correct value, avoid preventable review delays and recognise a card that has already been used. The balance should come from the card issuer's official website, app or support channel—not from a link sent by an unknown buyer.

A balance check does not guarantee that a trade will be approved. Kardora still needs to validate the card, its region, format, value and proof. It simply gives you better information before you request an estimate.

Use the official balance checker

Find the issuer's official website by typing the known brand address yourself or using the support information printed on the card. Avoid sponsored links and messages that ask you to reveal the complete code. Some issuers let you check with a card number and PIN; others require the card to be added to an account, which may redeem it. Read the instructions before continuing.

If checking requires redemption, stop and confirm the issuer's process. Redeeming a card to a personal account can make it unsuitable for resale.

Record the information that matters

Before opening a sell order, confirm:

  • the brand and exact card name;
  • issuing country and currency;
  • physical card or digital e-code;
  • face value and remaining balance;
  • whether the card has been scratched, redeemed or partially used;
  • whether you still have the receipt or original delivery email.

The amount printed on a card is not always the current remaining balance. A partially used card must not be submitted as if its full face value is available.

Keep the code private

Do not post a balance-check screenshot containing the full card number, PIN or redemption code. Crop or cover sensitive details when asking general questions. Only submit the required information through the official Kardora trade flow.

A person who obtains the complete code may be able to redeem the value before you sell it. Kardora support will not need your password or one-time verification code to explain the submission process. Read the gift card scam prevention guide for more safety checks.

Check the current NGN estimate

After confirming the card details, open Kardora's current rate checker. Match the brand, country, currency, format and value exactly. An estimate for a US physical card does not automatically apply to a UK e-code, even when both carry the same brand.

For a clearer explanation of changing estimates, read why gift card rates change in Nigeria. The final payout is confirmed only after the submitted card passes validation.

A practical pre-trade checklist

  1. Check the balance only through the official issuer channel.
  2. Do not redeem the card while checking.
  3. Confirm region, currency, format and exact remaining value.
  4. Keep the receipt or original delivery record.
  5. Protect the full code from public view.
  6. Request a current matched estimate on Kardora.
  7. Submit the card once and follow the order timeline.

Frequently asked questions

Can I sell a partially used gift card?

Support depends on the card and the options currently shown in Kardora. Never enter the original face value when the remaining balance is lower. If the exact remaining value or card condition is not supported, contact official support before submitting.

Is a balance screenshot enough proof?

Not always. Review may also require a clear card image, purchase receipt or original digital delivery record. Follow the proof instructions shown for the exact card selected in the app.

Should I share the full code to confirm the balance?

Only use the official issuer's checker and the official Kardora submission flow. Do not send a complete code to a stranger, social-media contact or unofficial rate-checking page.
