First identify the Amazon marketplace
Amazon gift cards are tied to a particular Amazon marketplace. An Amazon.com card is not automatically the same as an Amazon.co.uk or another regional card. Before selling in Nigeria, confirm the marketplace, currency, delivery format and face value from the card, purchase receipt or original email.
Do not select another country simply because its NGN estimate appears higher. The quote must describe the real card.
Account balance is not an unused claim code
Amazon explains that a redeemed gift card becomes part of the gift card balance in the relevant Amazon account. For example, Amazon.co.uk directs users to Your Account to view the balance already held there. An unused card or claim code has not yet become account balance.
If you intend to sell the unused code, do not redeem it into a personal account just to check the value. Once redeemed, that account balance generally cannot be moved back to the original card or transferred to another account.
Confirm the unused card safely
Check:
- the marketplace named on the card or email;
- currency and purchased denomination;
- physical card or eGift delivery;
- receipt, order page or delivery date;
- whether the claim code has been exposed or redeemed.
